We Fight Human Trafficking

Every year, people are tricked or forced into a life no one would choose - sold into prostitution and the sex trade, locked up in sweatshops, and made to work for little or no pay. They are victims of Human Trafficking!

Soroptimist International seeks to raise awareness and educate the global and local communities about the horrible crimes of human trafficking. Soroptimist International of Vista has initiated an awareness program by forming the North San Diego County Human Trafficking Collaborative. To learn more about the Collaborative, click here: http://sivistaantitrafficking.wordpress.com/

To help raise awareness about this important issue, SIV also:

  • Conducts an annual Awareness Walk

  • Maintains a Speakers' Bureau to provide information to organizations in North San Diego County

  • Provides updates on legislation relative to Human Trafficking

  • Provides news articles about Human Trafficking

For more information please contact us at sivistanorthcountyinland@soroptimist.net.

Important Work in Prevention

It is estimated that 60-65% of sexually abused children continue a life of promiscuity, and are vulnerable to prostitution and human trafficking. The following information is offered as a step toward prevention.

For professionals, educators and administrators that work with children, Stewards of Children training is coming up in San Diego. This is an evidence based program that provides a powerful tool for education about the importance of prevention, signs of abuse and how to respond to disclosure.

Now available! Child Sexual Abuse prevention education webinars for parents over the Internet. Please follow this link to learn more:  http://www.educate4change.com/webinar-for-parents.html
It is sometimes hard for parents to go to a class, but here they can learn from the comfort of their home.  See what others have said about it!

Recently we learned about an online community for support for adult survivors of child sexual abuse. It actually provides support on a variety of issues so please check it out. Please follow this link. http://sexualabusesupport.onehealth.com/
